The ANZ Platinum credit card is one of the best platinum cards available and is great for customers who enjoy travel benefits or like to receive deals on entertainment. This card can be great for anyone looking to save on interest and pay off debt with its 0% p.a. interest rate on balance transfers for 9 months. For technology savvy customers, ANZ Platinum offers Visa payWave, a payment feature that allows customers to buy purchases under $100 without swiping, signing or entering a pin. This is a great card to use for every day purchases and is perfect for customers looking for a card with a high credit limit.

Pros

Perhaps the lead feature of this card is its low interest rates. Right now you can transfer a balance at the introductory rate of 0% p.a. for a period of 9 months. If you are looking for a card that will save you money whether you plan on using it to reduce your debts or for spending, the ANZ Platinum is certainly worth a look.

One of the advantages of the ANZ Platinum is the extensive travel benefits. When you spend $500 or more on travel related purchases, you are eligible for flexible payment options such as an instalment plan or discount interest rates.

The credit card comes with complimentary insurance. When you travel you receive complimentary travel and medical insurance, provided by ANZ. This will cover you for things such as overseas dental and medical, cancellation costs, lost luggage, loss of income and liability.

The card offers 55 interest free days, giving customers over a month to pay back their charges.

You can add up to nine additional cardholders to your account for no charge, making it easier to reach the spending tier to waive annual card fees.

The card comes with Visa Entertainment. With this you can receive discounts on local entertainment, televisions, sounds systems and other home entertainment items.

The ANZ Platinum offers a complimentary, 24-hour concierge service. You can call them for anything from booking plane tickets to finding concert seats at a local venue.

Anyone who is a permanent Australian resident over the age of 18 with good credit can apply for this card. It requires a minimum annual income of $50,000 for the Platinum or if you are not a permanent Australian resident.

Cons

One of the main drawbacks of this card is the lack of a rewards program. Unlike many other platinum level cards, you can’t earn points towards free flights, upgrades, hotel stays, etc. However, platinum cards that do offer a rewards program tend to have higher interest rates, lesser introductory offers and significant annual fees. It’s worth examining what you really need more: cheap interest rates or rewards? If it’s the former, then the ANZ Platinum is a good option. If it’s the latter, look elsewhere.

As is standard, existing ANZ credit card customers cannot get the balance transfer or purchase rate offer.

Conclusion

The ANZ Platinum credit card provides a plethora of travel benefits and has received great feedback from Australian customers. The ANZ customer service is top notch and if you are approved for the card, you can receive it within five business days. You don’t need to be an ANZ customer to apply for this card. If you are looking for a card that will make your travels easier and allow you to spend large amounts monthly, this is the card for you.
