For people starting their quest for Qantas frequent flyer points, want to get free membership into the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program and get basic travel insurance coverage with their credit card, then the NAB Gold Qantas Credit Card is worth considering.

Pros
Overseas travel insurance comes free with this card. You can become a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program for free which will save you $82.50 plus NAB’s offer gives you accelerated points earning for a short period of time. Additional cardholders don’t cost anything and if you go over your credit limit there’s no overlimit fee to dread. The ‘two cards, one account’ setup is ideal because whilst you use the MasterCard for everyday purchases you can whip out the Amex for bigger purchases and get the better points earning rate.

Cons
The annual fee is a slugger and like the basic NAB Qantas Credit Card the accelerated points earning potential is restricted on two fronts: it ends in September and secondly the points earning potential is capped at $10,000 per month which for some heavy users may be a problem.

Conclusion
The NAB Gold Qantas Credit Card is a good frequent flyer credit card best suited for first timers to Qantas who want a higher monthly points cap and some of the extra protections offered by the travel insurance.
