Earn Velocity Points on everyday purchases whilst enjoying the extra privileges of a Gold credit card. Special benefits for Gold cardholders include Extended Warranty and Purchase Protection, complimentary Insurance Travel Insurance and VIP Lost Card Cover (the latter is complimentary only for the first 12 months).
Pros
There are plenty of features to be enjoyed with this card. In addition to the peace-of-mind insurances mentioned, Velocity, the award winning loyalty program of Virgin Australia, V Australia, Pacific Blue & Polynesian Blue, offers great points earning potential up to 2 points per $2. Points are uncapped, don’t expire and are redeemable for rewards such as flights, accommodation and entertainment. As a cardholder, you also get access to NAB Cellar Selections – your gateway to 400+ Australian Wine Producers.
Additionally, you can make contactless purchases with NAB Visa payWave, you get two cards (Visa & AMEX) with the simplicity of only one monthly statement, you can have an additional card holder at no extra cost and enjoy competitive, though not fabulous, rates.
Cons
The Velocity NAB Gold Card is a traveller and higher income earner’s card. With a substantial annual fee, you want to make sure you can afford it and will actually benefit from it so do the maths and ask yourself whether you’d get more back than the annual fee each year during normal usage.
Conclusion
A great card, jam packed with features and perks. Remember that the higher interest rates are not an issue if you make your repayments on time so if your lifestyle and spending will get you the rewards you’re after on this card, it could be well worth your while.
