Awarded 5 stars by Cannex, the Velocity NAB Standard credit card allows you to collect Velocity points on every purchase. The account comes with an American Express and Visa card allowing you to collect even more points that can be redeemed on flights, shopping, hotels and car hires. Aside from the fantastic reward scheme, the NAB Standard credit card comes with a fairly reasonable balance transfer and purchase rate.
Pros
Not only do you get access to the Velocity reward scheme, which allows you to redeem points saved on your credit card for flights (Sydney to Cairns = 16,900 points ) and shopping ($100 David Jones gift card = 14,800 points), but you also get access to exclusive Visa and American Express members-only benefits.
This card features the brilliantly handy payWave technology to securely pay for goods in an instance without having to type in your pin. It also allows you access to Visa’s Entertainment programme where cardholders can find discounts and savings on entertainment, experiences and events. The Velocity NAB Standard account also comes with an American Express card, which comes with its own set of benefits including access to promotions and discounts through the AMEX network.
In terms of cost, the Velocity account is very competitive, especially when you consider the added benefits. The account comes with a very low annual management fee of $65 p.a. and a fairly standard interest free on all purchases (Up to 44 days).
Cons
The Velocity NAB card doesn’t come with card cover as standard, which is disappointing but not a major problem. Apart from this, the card is a decent all-rounder with no real downsides.
Conclusion
With access to two credit cards, it’s only a matter of time before you’re sipping a martini on the beach, courtesy of NAB. Aimed at mid income earners, the Velocity Standard credit card is a great companion for anyone who wants to be rewarded for shopping.
