Want a credit card that rewards you for spending? Then look no further than the Westpac Earth Platinum credit card. Earn up to 1.5 Qantas Frequent Flyer points on every $1 charged to your card with the option of doubling up if you spend with selected partners. Not only do you get free membership of the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme, but you also get free membership to Westpac’s platinum concierge service, complimentary insurance cover and a range of additional cardholder benefits.

    Pros

You’ll get not one, but two credit cards with the Westpac Earth Platinum account. The MasterCard offers 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every $1 spent and the American Express pays out at the higher rate of 1.5 QFF points per $1 spent. The Qantas rewards scheme allows you to redeem points for flights, meaning you could be jetting away without paying a penny!

The Westpac Earth Platinum credit card account also gives you access to American Express’s Entre programme, which offers members exclusive offers and savings with a range of participating merchants. You will also get access to the Amex Selects scheme for discounts on shopping, travel and tickets to events and shows.

MasterCard, not wanting to miss out on the action, also offer Earth Platinum accountholders free membership to their Moments program, which gives you access to exclusive offers on unique travel and entertainment experiences.

The benefits don’t stop there either! Westpac have thrown in a range of complimentary insurance for all Earth Platinum cardholders. This includes, 6 months comprehensive overseas travel insurance covering car rental, personal liability protection and unlimited medical expenses cover. There is also complimentary purchase security insurance cover and extended warranty cover to give you added peace of mind when purchasing items using your credit card.

Card security is second-to-none – the account comes with a host of features including MasterCard SecureCode to protect your money. Regardless of whether you’re shopping on the net, in-store or on the phone, the Earth Platinum card is robust and secure, giving you peace of mind that your cash is in safe hands.

Cardholders get access to a 24/7 concierge service who can help you with everything from booking flights and hotels to restaurant reservations and arranging airport transfers. It’s a really useful service for busy people on the move.

Lastly, the Earth Platinum credit card offers a cheap interest rate on balance transfers of 0.99% p.a. for 6 months. While it’s by no means the cheapest available on the market today, it is most likely significantly lower than the interest rate your existing card and can therefore save you quite a bit of money.

    Cons

Rates and fees aren’t the best in the industry, making the Earth Platinum account unsuitable for anyone looking for a cheap credit card. The annual fee will set you back $250 p.a. alone. There’s also no introductory purchase rate offer and no interest free balance transfer offer, which may put off those of you looking to pay off interest charges accrued on previous credit cards.

The earn rate on the Amex card is about as high as you’ll get, but the problem is that many merchants still do not accept Amex as a form of payment. Therefore, you’ll be forced to use your MasterCard more often, and for that you’ll earn points at a much lower rate.

    Conclusion

If you spend regularly on your credit card and can justify the $250 p.a. annual fee, then the Westpac Earth Platinum credit card is highly recommended. Not only do you benefit from the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, but the card also comes with a plethora of other top-notch features that more than justify the fees and rates.

If you’re earning over $65,000, over the age of 18, and want to be rewarded for your loyalty, then look no further than the Westpac Platinum Earth credit card and apply online today.
