Caltex fuel cards are fuel purchasing cards, some of which allow you to receive discounts on fuel and other purchases, and even earn Qantas points. Individuals can apply for a Caltex StarCard Debit card, while Caltex StarCard is available to businesses of all sizes – you don’t need to be a large company with a fleet of vehicles. All you need is an ABN and at least six months of business trading.
Discounts on fuel purchases
Cardholders are able to purchase Caltex Vortex Premium fuels and regular fuel and diesel, at the pump, at a discount (e.g. 4 cents discount per litre), at over 1,900 Caltex locations throughout Australia.
From time to time there may be introductory offers for new cardholders, providing increased discounts for a limited time.

Discounts on packaged engine oils and in-store purchases
Discounts are also available on engine oils and most purchases in the convenience stores located in Caltex service stations (Discount on packaged lubricant is not available at every store).
Caltex provides a list of purchase types which are NOT eligible for discounts. Major exclusions include cigarettes, lottery tickets, StarCash cards and recharge cards.

Earn Qantas Points on your fuel and other selected in-store purchases with a Caltex StarCard*
As well as getting a discount on fuel purchases, Caltex StarCard cardholders can also earn Qantas points on each litre of fuel purchased. Qantas Points earning is expressed as a number of points per litre or two litres of fuel purchased.
They will also earn Qantas Points on most items purchased at convenience stores located in Caltex service stations. Qantas Points earning is expressed as a number of points per $1 spent on eligible purchases.
Caltex provides a list of purchase types which are NOT eligible to earn Qantas points. The exclusions are the same as those for qualifying for in-store purchase discounts.
Purchases made with a Caltex StarCard Debit card do not earn Qantas Points.
Qantas Points will be credited to a Qantas Business Rewards account
In order to receive Qantas Points you must open, or already have, a Qantas Business Rewards program account. Points accumulated in a Qantas Business Rewards Account can be used for the benefit of your business, or transferred at a later date to an individual’s Qantas Frequent Flyer points account (minimum transfer quantity of 3,000 Qantas points).
A Qantas Business Rewards joining fee of $89.50 normally applies, but this will be waived for Caltex StarCard customers.
Cut down on paperwork
Caltex provides StarCard customers with a single monthly invoice detailing all their fuel purchases. It’s also possible to access a range of other reports via the MyCaltex app. Customers who use Xero or MYOB accounting software can also link their card directly to their accounting system.
Payment of invoices is made monthly by direct debit from the cardholder’s nominated bank account or credit card.
There is a monthly fee payable for the StarCard
Caltex StarCard cardholders need to pay a small monthly service fee, a cost likely to be mainly offset by the purchase of a single full tank of fuel.

There is no monthly fee payable for the Caltex StarCard Debit card, which is a prepaid card using your own money.
Add more features to your card for an additional fee
Optional StarCard extras, for which additional monthly fees are payable, include discounts from Caltex partner servicing and repairs businesses (earn Qantas Points on expenditure), national roadside assistance with unlimited callouts, and the inclusion of toll fees on your StarCard account via a Caltex toll tag.
For the StarCard Debit card, only roadside assistance may be added.

The Caltex StarCard Debit card is a prepaid fuel purchasing discount card for individuals, on which cash is loaded from the cardholder’s bank account, with automatic top-ups when the balance falls below a certain level.

Your Qantas Points earned on purchases will be credited to your Qantas Business Rewards program account within 60 days of your purchase. You must open A Qantas Business Rewards account, if you do not already have one, in order to receive points, but the normal $89.50 joining fee is waived for StarCard customers.
Your Qantas Points can be used in just the same way as Qantas points earned by flying, by using a credit card linked to Qantas points, or by any other means. They can be exchanged for flights taken by employees of the business, for merchandise from an online catalogue, for retail spending vouchers, hotel accommodation and car hire.
The points can also be transferred to an individual’s Qantas Frequent Flyer points account (minimum transfer quantity of 3,000 Qantas points).
The Caltex StarCard works like a charge card. You will be granted interest-free days on your fuel and other Selected Caltex purchases, but you will be required to pay off your whole account balance once per month, on a set number of days after the end of the billing cycle.
The account must be paid by direct debit from either your bank account or credit card.
No. You cannot double up on discounts. If you pay with your StarCard you cannot use your Woolworths or any other discount voucher.

There is no monthly charge for the Caltex StarCard Debit card, although a fee is payable if you add the roadside assistance feature to the card.
You must be a director, partner, trustee or the business owner to apply, and you will need to provide an ABN. Sole traders are eligible, provided they have an ABN. The business must have been trading for at least six months, and the applicant must be at least 18 years old.
The applicant will need to supply their driver’s licence, and details of the bank account or credit card from which the monthly account balance will be paid by direct debit.
